Day 30 - Fayette, IA to Calmar, IA

We were very lazy and scheduled a short ride for today.  Since we had under 30 miles to ride, we had a leisurely morning and left the hotel just before 10AM.  As soon as we got started, we climbed a bridge to cross the Volga River.

We've seen many quilt paintings on barns and other buildings.

I've posted a bunch of pictures of picturesque farms.  This isn't one of them.

About halfway to Calmar, we came to the town of Eldorado.  A search on Google maps showed no convenience stores or other businesses, but we decided to take a spin through town.  I'll post the following series of photos without comment.

Eldorado is on the Turkey River. We had a fast downhill ride to the river. We had a much slower climb up out of the river bottom.

We had a rare vehicle sighting in town.  I think this is only the second school bus we've seen on the road this trip.

This is our B&B - the Lavender Fields Inn.  The house was built in 1885.  The owners have done a wonderful job restoring it and creating a B&B.

Tomorrow we will be riding the Prairie Farmer rail trail for 20 miles.  I don't know how far it parallels an active rail line, but it would be cool to have a train pass while we're on the trail.

Total: 689 miles (1,109 km)
