Mountains to the left, mountains to the right - Riding the Inn in Austria - CycleBlaze

Mountains to the left, mountains to the right

From Innsbruck to Rietz

Again great weather, sunny but not too hot. The route is flat with a very gradual but steady gain of altitude, mountains to either side, prettier than yesterday although we are again frequently within earshot of the highway. But that is nothing to complain about, we are on a dedicated bicycle path, smooth and well signposted and the views are wonderful. Much of the time we cycle between the Inn and highway, never into villages or towns.  However, we are compensated by our walk around the center of Innsbruck in the morning before we set out.

A facade fresco, the gist of which is "Purses and pipes for peasants and lords, none like them empty, filled they're adored."

More of the same, not exactly monotonous but not a lot of variety either

Nothing lovelier than the scent of freshly mown hay

And now for Janos's video...

We're not finding a lot of accomodation along the route, at least not where we want it or for the price we expect to pay. We ended up making it a short day for this reason. The hotel was ok and it was directly on our route which was important since anything on the other side of the Inn would have meant a sizable detour to a bridge, making it a longer day but not closer to our destination.

Suzanne GibsonTo Tricia GrahamThanks, Trish! I'll pass it along to Janos.
I think you two would enjoy this ride along the Inn. Or have you already done it?

Tricia GrahamTo Suzanne GibsonWe did it a number of years ago and went over the Reisen (?sp) into the Adige valley - a marvelous ride and the pass perfectly manageable
