The bikes are hibernating

It worked out easily in the end

We were pleased this morning that we had been to the storage yesterday as we could ride with confidence.  How different it was today on a working day as we joined a fleet of bikes but now we knew the way. We got to MyPlace Self Storage and unlike yesterday the office was open.  Discussion with the staff and they took us to see a suitable cell - it looked as if it would do.  What seemed best was that we took it for a year and paid then as this with the discount offered it was about the same as for the 10 months we thought we would need and all much simpler.  Paper work done we were back up and it was fantastic both bikes fitted in without any dismantling at all - we also left panniers, front bags, helmets, charger, battery and locks.  This will make things much simpler on our return. It was pretty expensive a bit ove 600E for a year but cheaper and much more convenient than rental would be.  I felt a bit sad leaving the alone but unlike dogs they wont fret.

Steve Miller/GrampiesFor what it's worth, that sign says "No bicycle parking in front of the sliding door"! No wonder the bikes landed in a cell!

Tricia GrahamI like that ! The place is just like a prison block but as you can see from the picture the cell absolutely perfect for the bikes to cosy up for the winter. was really a seamless finish with of course the bonus of meeting with Suzanne. Have another night in Munich - we must be pessimists we thought it might take that long. Then a week in Paris before the long flight home. It really has been a great trip

Now to master the trams which with a helpful lady at the tram stop we have.  Back to Buddy and what next?  Oktoberfest is on, surely we couldn't visit Munich without finding out what it is all about.  We joined the crowds and were swept into the most colourful site.  About 90% of the people were dressed appropriately so we stood out from the crowd.  I had expected that there would be mainly young people but it was a real mixture of age groups.  Into a bierhall for lunch and a beer.  They only have 1 size 1L (neither of us could get through it). We were lucky enough to be joined by a delightful couple from Munich absolutely beautifully dressed.

Rather unsteadily we were back on the trams and back to our room to sober up and wait to meet Suzanne Gibson.  I have been following her blogs ever since we started cycling and really it was Suzanne who gave me the information I need to start using an ebike.  We have really been looking forward to the meeting

Later - it was really lovely to meet Suzanne, we went and had coffee and cake and as you can well imagine there was lots of talk of cycle touring, she and her husband have certainly done lots of fantastic trips.  We were particularly interested in hearing of the Alpe Adria which they have done recently perhaps it will be the start of our trip next year.

Suzanne GibsonAnd it was lovely meeting you, too!
Loved your Oktoberfest pictures! You certainly had a full day! And so good that you have your bikes stored away and waiting for you next year!

david alstonTricia and Ken,

Maun and I are glad it worked out so well, a seamless finish to a very nice trip. And the storage unit is a bargain, it would have cost twice that much in Paris.

The photo of you and Suzanne is a pleasant surprise, how nice. Have a nice trip home,

David and Maun
