When I told the owner of the Paddy Shack that I would be back for the Grand Opening Weekend, I had thought I'd be checking in to the Hilton on Wednesday and that they'd only be giving me one night's stay.

Once it became obvious that wasn't what was happening, I changed my plans from "bike to Ocean Flower and back again" to "leave my bike somewhere near the train station and come back to keep biking."

当初跟自由人餐吧的老板说我会回来参加周末盛大开业活动时，我本以为周三能入住希尔顿，也以为他们只给我安排一晚住宿。

等事情明显不是我想的那样后，我就改了计划，从“骑车去海花岛再骑回来”改成“把自行车停在高铁站附近，之后回来继续骑行”。

Unlike some people I know who realllllllly ought to know better¹, this does not mean just leaving my bike at the train station.

不像我认识的有些人，他们真的真的应该更醒目才对¹，我可不会就这么把自行车直接丢在车站。

Instead, I call ahead to a hotel near the train station and confirm with them that, so long as I book and pay for a room the day I'm coming back and I take "everything expensive" that isn't the bicycle², they'll keep it for me.

Forgetting to pick up the Taobao packages I had sent to Ocean Flower and therefore ensuring that the resumption of my journey will not involve me going further inland from the train station, I then compound my scatterbrained idiocy by not thinking to confirm where I put my house keys until after I've arrived in Laocheng.

相反，我提前给高铁站附近的一家酒店打了电话，确认好只要我预订并支付返程当天的房间，而且把“所有值钱的东西”（自行车除外²）都带走，他们就会帮我保管自行车。

我忘了去取寄到海花岛的淘宝包裹，这就意味着返程后没法从高铁站再往内陆骑了。更糟的是，我这丢三落四的毛病还没停，到了老城之后，才想起要确认家门钥匙放哪儿了。

Which is how I have the honor of being the first overnight house guest at the place Sarah has so recently moved into that I have to sleep on the couch.
