Hopefully, this journal about a planned weeklong trip to the Hilton on Ocean Flower Island and back again won't be the entirety of my Chinese New Year adventuring; but, a Very Major Client is threatening to send me a very large sum of work to be completed during the official holiday break, and—with all the delays that happened with last summer's ride—I figure it's best to start now.

Hi, my name is Marian. I'm a 43 year old American woman who has been living in China since 2002. I work as a Chinese to English translator, mostly for government departments and state-owned media. Also, although it really doesn't make much in direct income, I do an increasing amount of social media related stuff.

希望这些记录从希尔顿酒店往返海花岛的一周骑行日记，不会成为我春节假期的经历。 但是，一位非常重要的客户可能会在法定假期期间发来大量的工作任务。考虑到去年夏天骑行计划的各种延误，我觉得最好从现在就开始准备。

大家好，我叫岳玫瑰，今年43岁，是一位自2002年起定居中国的美国人。我的主要工作是汉英翻译，客户多为政府部门和国有媒体机构。此外，我也在社交媒体投入越来越多精力，虽然这部分目前并没有带来太多直接收入。

As of the writing of this text, I don't have an Instagram or a YouTube; but my new assistant Shawn has been baller about getting me on to Red and Bilibili, and she's been translating these journals into Chinese. So, for all I know, by the time you read this, my videos may be easily watchable without having to belong to the Chinternet.

My main hobbies are coffee and biking. I do at least one 1,000+ km loaded bike tour per year, usually inside China. This trip won't be as long as that, but it will hopefully be followed by another similar length trip in about three weeks.

我最大的爱好是咖啡和骑行。每年我至少会进行一次超1000公里的长途负重骑行，通常都在中国境内。这次旅程虽然不会那么长，但希望三周后还能开启另一段相似距离的骑行。
