Uffenheim - Himmelstadt: We are in heaven
No sign-posted bike paths from Uffenheim. I liked the feeling when we left town of discovering OUR bike path. The way out of Uffenheim was on a road with heavy traffic but we triumphantly found a bike path next to it. Soon our route left the busy B13 and we had a peaceful ride in hilly terrain to the Main Valley.

We had crossed another ridge into yet another river valley. So far we had been travelling against the grain of the land, but from here we would be following river valleys until we reached Bremen - much further north where it is all flat anyway. From Marktbreit we followed the Main for the rest of the day - on a bike path that we had also travelled before. It's not that we've been everywhere in Germany, but the river valleys are main arteries for long-distance cycle tours which explains why we have ridden several more than once.
We rode right past Würzburg, an interesting city but we visited it two years ago, and thought we might stop in Erlabach for the night - just going back to what was familiar. We had no luck finding a room there this time so we continued on to Himmelstadt.
'Himmel' in German means heaven and we thought this wouldn't be a bad place to spend the night. The private room we found was indeed clean, nicely furnished and comfortable, the family renting it pleasant and helpful. I was tired and appreciated this good find - yes, if felt like heaven.
We paid 47 € incl. breakfast.
Today's ride: 69 km (43 miles)
Total: 328 km (204 miles)
