Looks like a good idea.
1 year agoGreat comment, Jeff. I agree all that farmland can really mess with the mind. Then there are folks like me who don't have much going on in their minds anyway.
1 year agoYou're absolutely right about or mutual kid-like love for just "climbing onto the saddle and turning the crank."
Anyway, yes, great visit. Thank you for that.
Except for the pasties???? That's sacrilege.
1 year agoYes, U.P mosquitoes have been known to pick up a tent or two, then they shake the humans out and start feeding.
1 year agoThanks Rocky, but I think you might need to get a new prescription for eyeglasses.
1 year agoThanks, Rich. It looks like I'm going to have to pay a visit to Grass Valley, California sometime in the near future.
1 year agoYup, stress is good for neither mind nor body.
1 year agoSometimes on the prairie, you walk to the edge of town and stare out into the endless sea of corn and soybeans and the mess of existential thoughts that fill your head cause you to make decisions that are just plain crazy.
1 year agoAnother insightful post by Greg. As I was driving home, I was thinking about our visit. In addition to noting that I had a great time with a super nice guy, what really struck me is the thing we have most in common: both of us still have a kid's love of riding a bike. None of the other stuff (gearing, clothing, mileage, etc) matters. Just climbing onto that saddle and turning the crank....
He's also right about this being a community. I feel like I know many of the people on Cycleblaze and, in addition to hanging out with Greg some more, hope to meet other folks as well.
Great photo and how wonderful he has offered to help!
1 year agoWhat a great sounding tour, except for the pasties!
