Yikes! I have appointments set up to replace my 40-plus year old crown later this month, before my dentist retires and I have to find another one I trust. Front and centre so I think I’ll have to suffer (I hope not) with a temporary.
Is it our ages or this age?
It's rare for the Hostile Actors Club to meet because we are all vagabond cyclists and are rarely in the same place at the same time. This meeting was exceptional. Love you guys.
1 year agoYou too, Scott, take a rather simple scene but make it snap. I love both your and Rachael's photographic eyes.
1 year agoI'm smiling extra wide because I've had a gap in my front teeth for 5.5 months and was used to simpering (or wearing a mask). All hail modern dentistry!
1 year agoThe temporary crown has been a hassle and sometimes painful. I’ll keep your advice in mind next time.
1 year agoI had a molar extraction several months (after my widowmaker double stent LAD) while still on blood thinners... It took 4 hours of sitting in the chair swapping out cotton balls before the seepage stopped enough to let me go home. No further problems though.
Was glad when the year of medication was finished! I was tired of looking like a mishandled banana from all the minor bruising.
I wish you the best on your dental adventure.
Tooth issues! I had similar but fortunately in July, before we left for Spain. No symptoms, it was caught by a routine X-ray. No extraction either, but fillings on two upper molars, root canal on one, new crown and generally a pain in the mouth. I asked the dentist if he needed to do a temporary crown and the answer was no. I had to promise to keep the area clean and that was it. I found it much more comfortable than a temp. Something to consider if there is a next time for Rachael (or you). Hopefully not.
1 year agoThat's a rather dismal-looking sky. Welcome to Portland in the late autumn and winter, I suppose.
1 year agoGreat shot! Could be a calendar page or the backdrop for a seasonal advertisement of some sort.
1 year agoWe've also enjoyed a long stretch of fine weather, adorned with better and more vibrant colors than I recall in recent years, here in the mid-Atlantic. It's pretty much just a memory now, though.
1 year agoThanks, Scott. That gives me more confidence in the iA setting. I appreciate your comments.
1 year agoWe'll have missed the fall color show by the time we get home. I really enjoyed seeing yours.
1 year agoI always keep it on iA. I’ve experimented around with adjusting aperture or exposure from time to time, but have never really seen any improvement - and it takes more thought and time, and Rachael thinks I spend too much time staring through the lens as it is. I do run nearly everything through the built-in photo editor on the iPad afterwards, to crop and adjust exposure or contrast to bring out what interested me in the first place.
The moon is tricky, alright. It’s hard to get the right conditions for a well-focused shot, and I’m not really clear on why it works so well sometimes and not others.
Such beautiful fall colors!

I can’t help wondering about that rear fender. Even our little Sodapop quick-release fenders have two points of attachment. Am I missing something?
