In Palermo, Day 2: CycleBlaze Meetup!

We got out on our bikes today to ride up Monte Pellegrino, which looms over Palermo to the north. It’s always good to make sure the bike is working well before leaving the city but it’s great to do it with fellow CycleBlazers Scott & Rachael Anderson.

Meeting up to for a ride.

We had hoped to make it a loop ride but found a big closed gate that meant it would be an out-and-back.

Santa Rosalia is still above us

The serious closed gate that stopped us.

We had worked up an appetite so after splitting up to return to our accommodations, Al and I went out for our first pizza of the trip.

It was as good as it looks

Rich FrasierIf you have time, check out Pizza Frida. Judged the best pizza in Sicily during our 2019 pizza-tasting tour. :)

Jacquie GaudetTo Rich FrasierWe might just do that. Is it in Palermo? We have one more night here, before we catch our flight home in a few weeks.

Rich FrasierTo Jacquie GaudetHi Jacquie - yes, it’s pretty close to you in Palermo. Here’s the address: Piazza Sant'Onofrio, 37/38, 90134 Palermo PA, Italy

I’d advise getting there slightly before they open. The line forms quickly!

After our late lunch, we walked over to the Chiesa del Gesù di Casa Professa. Our host was right (of course).  It is a beautiful church.

Jacquie GaudetTo Keith AdamsI liked the griffons here and the other mythical creatures. Not what I expected to see in a church!

Jacquie GaudetTo David MathersHe ordered pasta and it’s more compact. He was also still a bit full after eating all of his pizza and a quarter of mine just a few hours before.
