Burgos to Castrojeriz: A lovely easy day's cycling

It rained hard in the night but today was yet another golden day, I cannot believe we have been so lucky with the weather. We walked around the square in Burgos, had breakfast and generally took things easily this morning so it was about 9am before we eventually got under way and then found we had left our maps in the room so had to go back.

It is wonderful to be riding with no time pressure and we certainly had a fantastic ride today, one of the best ever. Cycling the Camino is quite a different experience than walking it as you are travelling so much faster a lot of the time. The route is rather different and most of it is on roads, beautiful roads today with very little traffic. I love the Maseta with its wonderful golden colours and the tiny villages that are the same colour as the landscape and just seem to grow out of it. There are a huge number of walking pilgrims so the little villages that their routes pass through are well supplied with bars for coffee and the other necessities of life.

We stopped at Castrojeriz and found a lovely hotel at a very reasonable price, we don’t even have to share our room with the bikes.
