We walked past this dog many times during our four day stay in Ubon Ratchathani and she was sleeping every time.

One night the only restaurant we found open was this Japanese restaurant. I have a rule about eating only the food of whatever country I'm in but this exception was exceptional. In fact, the food was so good we returned the next night for more.

These no doubt contained Bao - steamed buns filled with various meats. I bet these take rides on some sort of vehicle since the tops are tied down. Probably transported to a market.

Another great meal from the Japanese restaurant. For some reason there were a lot of Japanese restaurants in Ubon Ratchathani.

Sure, why not carry an unprotected fluorescent tube on the motor bike with you! What could go wrong?

This was looking in the window of a hair salon school.

This is the setup for making old style Thai coffee. A spoonful of ground coffee, a spoonful of Ovaltine, a spoonful of whatever, some of this and that, some sweetened condensed milk and some evaporated milk on top. It sounds odd but it's delicious.

Some little delectable things are steamed under those cone-shaped tin tops. Great food is everywhere in Thailand. You can't walk down any street for more than 100 feet without finding something interesting to eat.

This was our jolly cafe bolan woman. We got iced coffee from her everyday we were in Ubon.

I was marveling at the broken ceramics floor of a courtyard at our hotel when I realized there was a repeating pattern to it. It's actually tiles but the tiles are not squares. Well done, Thais, well done.

Bruce LellmanTo Marsha HanchrowI love dogs and cats but right now I don't want either. I'm still trying to get over our cat Pinkie being killed by a coyote a year and a half ago. She was the best cat in the world. But we did see a lot of dogs in Asia that we felt so sorry for and wanted to bring home with us. It's heartbreaking the way some of them live.
