This woman was waiting for someone when we arrived at the restaurant and was still there when we left. I felt sad for her. It couldn't have been a good reason why the person hadn't shown up.

These young monks were eyeing up the large sheets filled with tiny stickers. If I had known at the time how incredibly cheap these sheets of stickers were, (pennies per sheet), I would have bought a bunch of them for the monks. There are a lot of regrets like this when traveling in places like Myanmar.

Mike PalmquistLove this architecture but I don't know what it is...Or how old it is...
It kind of reminds me of a Bavarian Chalet...except for the minaret thing.

Bruce LellmanTo Mike PalmquistI've never encountered this type of temple architecture before either and I've been to a lot of places in Myanmar. I think this means it must be Mon architecture since Mawlamyine is in the Mon state. The Mon were some of the first people in Myanmar, a very ancient people. I'd guess these wooden structures to be no more than 200 years old. Wood just doesn't last too long in this climate even if it is teak. This particular structure looks like at least the outside was refurbished not too terribly long ago.

The entire length of the long ridge top was covered with temples, monasteries, pagodas and many many stairways mostly covered and ancient.
