Day 26 Casey IL to Vandalia IL

I took off about 8 o’clock. The campground owner was pruning her roses. She had a lot of beautiful flowers.

For those of us of a certain vintage, this prior gas station brings back memories.

I noticed this interesting building in Greenup, apparently an Airbnb.

Starting to see elderberry along the route. Looks different from what we have on Lummi Island but I can’t put my finger on it.

The route takes occasional forays off US40. This time it involved a covered bridge.

Stopped in the bike shop in Effingham to get some new gloves as mine were deteriorating. Great little store.

Leaving Effingham, the skies are still greyish. Must be the Canadian forest fires.
