Planned route

Westward from Acadia National Park in Maine

This is the Adventure Cycling Association Northern Tier route.

We will begin near the eastern end, from just south of Bar Harbor as we head west.

After crossing Maine we will pick up the Cross New Hampshire Trail. It includes the Presidential Rail Trail, the Ammonoosuc Rail Trail and the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge.

Cross New Hampshire Trail, called the xNHAT

Next will be the Cross Vermont Trail.

At Charlotte (VT) we will cross Lake Champlain by ferry to Essex (NY), ride south on the Champlain Valley Trail, then west on the Erie Canal Trail route to Buffalo.

We will rejoin the ACA Northern Tier route as we head out of Buffalo.

Bob DistelbergLooking forward to your experiences on the Cross Vermont Trail. Haven't explored that yet, but would like to. Also, be aware that the Burlington-Port Kent ferry is closed for the season. https://ferries.com/vt-ny-ferry-routes/burlington-vt-port-kent-ny/burlington-vt-port-kent-ny-crossing-temporarily-closed-vt-port-kent-ny/
The ferry further south (Charlotte-Essex) is open though.
