Since the old men who sit on market corners and patch shoes don't exactly advertise, finding a cobbler and getting my shoes repaired where the current quick release pedals chew on the rubber would be harder than getting my manicure fixed. But, I could have done it. I didn't need to come home to get my shoes fixed and I didn't need to come home to get my nails redone. I just prefer the people who I usually go to.
I've also had plenty of opportunities while I've been on the road to go for a massage that very likely would have been a similar price and skill range as my usual.

So, just like going to one of the seven Super Mings in Sanya to replenish my breakfast supplies instead of the one in my neighborhood, these aren't really necessary "going back to Haikou" errands.
And the café that not only invited me to tandian but is also giving me money for having come, they'll still be there when I get back for reasons that I want to be back on days when it isn't cold.
I also could have had Shawn send me the replacement batteries and phone screens¹ for me to pay a local to where I am phone repairman to install.

I even could have continued to attach the blue Vaude to my rear rack with bungee straps. I didn't need to remove and replace the hook that burst completely open when going over a level crossing³.
In short, other than spending some time with friends, truffle pizza, and Coq au Vin, I easily could have gone with continuing east and north from Sanya without detouring to Haikou. However, unnecessary as this detour turned out to be, it still happened, and it wasn't necessarily a bad thing to be changing up what clothing I've got with me or to run errands in places familiar to me

¹ My guy was so vehement that the screens she bought online were shite that I'm not entirely sure I believe him about neither screen working and the only option being to send them back to the seller for different screens
² I've only known about these since a comment someone made on one of my blood donation videos
³ Surprisingly, one for an actual train line, not the Sanya Tram
Today's ride: 13 km (8 miles)
Total: 814 km (505 miles)
