Here we are, sitting in the Maple Leaf Lounge at YVR, enjoying the comfy chairs and complementary snacks. This is a once-a-year perk of our Aeroplan credit cards when we have booked using our Aeroplan points. Nice!  Why haven’t we done this before?

Our son’s girlfriend arrived early to drive us to the airport (thanks, Rachel!) and we departed with only one small hitch. Three blocks from home, Al realized he’d forgotten his helmet.  He used it to ride to work yesterday so it hadn’t been packed yet.  Around the block we went then off to the airport again.

Check-in and security were amazingly fast!  We were at our gate at 0830 for an 1130 departure. No airport photos, though.  We are always focussed on getting checked in and through security and then it’s waiting. Boring.  I understand there are some beautiful decorative elements at YVR, but I’ve never seen them except in pictures.
