Day 3: Bad Kötzting - Falkenstein - Bavarian Forest Tour - CycleBlaze

Day 3: Bad Kötzting - Falkenstein

Today looks promising - no rain, sun but not too hot, not so many kilometers, just a few meters of gravel.

The first ten kilometers of our route are on the Regen Radweg that we traveled on our detour yesterday to avoid the highway. I didn't originally plan to ride the same path twice. After we left the bicycle path, we were on country roads, the traffic never a problem but we were in for some climbs,   with views to make it all very worthwhile.

While Janos settles the bill, I take pictures in front of the hotel.

The day ended on a high, a high road that is. The last few kilometers went up, and the last few meters to our hotel were the steepest of the day.

View to Burg Falkenstein - we didn't ride up

Last climb of the day, on foot and carrying the bicycles, after removing the panniers of course.

We were a little bit outside of town and didn't relish any more vertical meters, up or down, on our bikes. No problem, it was an easy walk to the closest eatery  Namaste, an Indian restaurant, a nice change from the usual Bavarian menus of the past days. They also offered pizza, Thai and Chinese food but it seems the cook was Indian, and the tikka and masala were very tasty.

Namaste!
