Hello Racpat,

The maps you see here on CycleBlaze are "embedded" maps served by the RideWithGPS web site. Any map created on RideWithGPS can be embedded here by copying and pasting the "custom embed code" from RideWithGPS.

I don't think the embedded version of a map allows you to change the units from miles to km. But you can change the units if you click "View Full Version". Then the map opens in a full screen tab where the Options menu allows you to change the units.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their tour plans. Very interesting custom routes.

Thanks Andrea,

I've asked so many questions at Ride GPS, that I was embarrassed to ask one more,

they provide excellent service, quick response, and don't make me feel like I'm really techno illiterate...

I'll give you instructions a try. Rachel

Thanks Wayne,

I have seen in some journals "screenshots" of their maps. Given our experience with the other cycle website, I was wondering if this was a better way of linking maps, so they will be more permanent.

Oh gosh, Rachel, I wouldn't be able to use RideWithGPS without using Cycleblazers here as a resource. It's not a difficult app but I struggled with it at times. Mostly I used it to record where we went, not plan maps ahead of time. Sometimes I forgot to turn it on in the morning, whoops. Anyway, you'll find folks here very helpful and knowledgable so ask away. Good luck!

Hi Greg,

Springtime is extremely windy in the Chihuahuan desert area. The flowering desert is awesome if your timing is good, but the wind is relentless and the weather starts to get annoyingly hot. Fall has more pleasant cycling weather but no flowers.

My next tour is in states that still enforce strict COVID safety rules. I intend to comply with the rules, but know what to expect because anti-mask and anti-vax sentiment is widespread in my rural area.

Every bike tour is a calculated risk in multiple ways, trying to avoid illness, injury, accidents, extreme weather, etc. I take comfort in reports that vaccination reduces your chance of hospitalization for COVID by 100%. You might get sick, but it won't be major.

And I trust your plans for the spring include escorting us into or out of YOUR town.  Correct?

Hi Wayne,

My FIRST "tour" will likely be a one night-er to shake the cobwebs out of the legs...

But my first multi-day ride will likely be the Trans-Am route from Oregon to Colorado.  If that doesn't work out (for any number of reasons) I have some shorter ride ideas, such as the area around Crater Lake and so forth.

Can't wait to get back out there no matter what the route turns out to be!

My wife is a bit ahead of me, but I get my second shot in late April -  no tours planned for the spring.

In the fall, we are rescheduling an Erie Canal towpath trip that we cancelled last fall. Will still have cancellable reservations for 2 reasons: (1) the obvious pandemic resurgent/variant issues; and (2) lots of friends' kids who postponed weddings are starting to schedule them in fall 2021!

Personally, I'd rather ride a bike than go to a wedding but it seems I only control 49.98% of the votes on the board of directors of this corporation...
