I think I roped out about 35 on that downhill. The wide screen of the GoPro makes it seem faster.

I watched all the video. Beautiful country. It must’ve been exhilarating riding downhill. How fast were you going? It was a little scary watching from my comfy chair.😁

George, thanks for the link. I have spent the last 2 hours reading your journal. The videos are a very nice addition and have really enjoyed seeing Maine. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. I will check back in a week and hopefully be able to binge a few days. Retirement is good, no conference calls to get on.

Tom, good to hear from you! Thanks for the encouragement, we will need it tomorrow when we tackle the Kank. Keep us posted on your whereabouts. There are a couple of other "known" cycle-tourists headed at you from the west coast, you may encounter them in a few weeks. Let us know about any good places to stay (or places to avoid) that you experience. Best of luck,

Bud (and I'm sure Doc would agree, but he's off eating now)

Bud and Andy... Have to say that the blog and videos have replaced Jeopardy as the highlight of my day. Glad the colds are gone and best wishes for the climb ahead. !!!

Hiya Bud and Doc, this is Tom from day 2. I seem to have passed by you during your rest day, I'm in Vermont now. I'll be keeping up on your adventures here, it's nice seeing another perspective on the route. Oh and don't worry too much about New Hampshire, it could be a mental thing cause I expected the coast to be flat but I struggled more in Maine.

Bud and Andy...I finally got onto the comments site...and didn’t even have to find a teenager to help me! I love the daily posts especially seeing the scenery and hearing the commentary. It’s fun to see the bystanders and hear the chatter. Keep it up! Steve Henry

Scott - thanks for the info on the bridge replacement - you can see part of the foundation for the old bridge in the photo.

Lednar;

Yeah, one has to be cautious of the road ahead even on an "official" USBRS or ACA route - bicycles still get almost zero consideration in road design (I offer up poorly placed "rumble strips" as an example of that).
BTW, I have a brother-in-law named Randal; I think I will start calling him "Ladnar" and tell him that's the Viking translation of his name! Best wishes,

Buddy

Bob - thanks for the post. We are well aware of the notorious Vermont hills. I'm "looking forward" to them with some trepidation. It will be interesting to see how they compare with the Appalachians on the Transam route. My limited visits to Vermont showed me that it was a beautiful place and I can't wait till we roll into the Freedom and Unity state.
