Absolutely! Ice cream is high on our list of priorities. But we do have a rule that we can only have ice cream if we have bikes that day…..

We costed out bringing our own bikes, renting bikes and purchasing used bikes. The used bikes were the least expensive option. We had also heard stories of peoples expensive bikes being stolen in Amsterdam so that was another thing that led us to purchase the used bikes. It worked well for us.

Thanks! We enjoyed doing the blog and not only can it be useful to others but our family and friends could follow along with us, and after the trip it serves as a journal to look back at our trip. I highly recommend it.

We all thought we would have gained weight will all the wonderful food but I guess we did enough biking that we only put on a couple of pounds. We sure did indulge!

The bikes came with panniers but the ones we got were very well used so some of us purchased panniers in amsterdam. I’m so glad you are finding the blog helpful!

What a great tip about buying a used bike in Amsterdam. It never occurred to me to do that instead of bringing my own bike.

Glad you found the blog helpful. Great suggestion on adding name of hotels, Inns etc. I’m sure that would be useful for self supported touring.
