I don't think the platforms are free to anybody with a boat who shows up. I suspect you have to rent them by the hour at the marina.

I see online that the Wallowa Mountains Tramway ticket now costs $47 for a senior. Good you went when you did!

I didn't know about the tramway you can take a ride. Very cool!

Interesting - the "picnic platforms" on the Wallowa Lake - - haven't seen something like that before. I assume you would partake if you come by in a boat?

Yes, I enjoyed the brass sculptures in the town of Joseph - very artistic town!

After 40 feet of snow they don't even know where the road is. They use GPS to locate the road and start excavating. The snow has to be trucked away. It's too much to just blow off to the side. It takes about a month to excavate the 7 mile west rim drive, and another month or more to excavate shady sections of the remaining parts of the rim drive. The complete rim drive usually opens in July.

I was on a bike trip that went through Baker City and surrounding mountains years ago - very scenic.

Yes it was flexible fabric stretched taut to function as a small fairing. It was hollow inside. She could stuff a jacket in the void. She hasn't used it since then, so I guess she didn't think it was worth having.

Funny that that couple asked you to dinner to talk about bike touring, and then you all didn't actually talk much about bike touring! Oh well, you had a nice meal out at the steakhouse!

That doesn't look very safe for that bike tourist guy to have his shoes hanging from the handlebars.....

Wow, you had a ton of mosquitos smushed in your tent when you packed it away! I remember one night when getting in my tent in a location that I spent about 20 minutes killing mosquitos, using my head lamp to find them. I said "I am NOT sleeping with these mosquitos!"
