Haha - I can't work out if it's my finest moment or the one I'm keenest to forget! :-D
9 months agoOh yeah - I could really see cash disappearing there. I don't think I ever spent all my notes - still have £100 worth of Kroner sitting around somewhere I never got round to exchanging (if I can find it!)
9 months agoThanks Rich, glad you enjoyed reading! Cheers!
9 months agoGlad you swapped those out!

9 months agoWhuuuuuuut? Why is there a phallus on the sign? And how does it relate to a waffle shop? And how many people want to eat a waffle while looking at a penis? And how does the quote "Et In Arcadia Ego" ("Even in Arcadia, there am I") fit in? (Is it cautioning that there are dicks everywhere??? From your description the people seemed nice)
So many questions!
Iceland is completely cashless now. Last Fall we were there for an entire week and never once used cash. EVERYTHING was Apple Pay, even out in the most remote sections of the country (which, interestingly, always had 5G).
9 months agoI love the introspection in this! We’re all learning all the time and I think it’s great to open yourself up to it. That said, I really enjoyed following along on your ride. It’s a really pretty part of the world and you have a great writer’s « voice ». Keep them coming!
9 months agoHa yes I really am! Really loving it, to be honest. Only problem with it is it turns out the rubber feet aren't very tough, and by the end of this tour the aluminium legs had actually burst through them and were hitting the ground again. Maybe they're still too sharp after I cut them down?

9 months agoHa, yeah one or two places where I've seen this too. The weirdest was in Iceland, at a remote petrol station, where a poor American guy had a big wedge of Kroner as cash but his card wouldn't work. The petrol station wouldn't accept his cash so he couldn't pay for fuel!
9 months agoHere in Oz we have enthuisastly adopted electronic payments and I am starting to see signs saying card only, no cash!
9 months agoThanks Suzanne. I'm just glad it was comprehensible since I'd had more cider than usual before writing it!
9 months agoThanks Mark!

Any longer and they'd have turned into bobbins, just completely circular!
