Oh, the highs and lows. I really liked your "darkness" pictures at the end of this post. The Feeshko was sad to hear you flew directly to Italy instead of coming to Minnesota first. In the end, though, she understood. Maybe we'll see you upon your return. In the meantime, have fun!
3 weeks agoThanks, Steve. I’m behind, but both of the next two days were both fine. It feels like we’re on the road.
3 weeks agoWe thought this was beginning to sound like the Tour from Hell, Take 2. Glad to hear that things are now looking up. You just need to keep it that way moving forward. Fingers crossed for you!
3 weeks agoIf you look closely, there are little wings coming out of his shoulders.
3 weeks agoThis one was just funny. Sometime I’ll have to tell you about the time we were seriously separated for a few hours in the mountains years ago. That was seriously scary.
3 weeks agoWhat a relief it must be when you finally find each other amongst a whole country of strangers.
3 weeks agoStill Christmas one week before Easter in these parts..😆
3 weeks agoIt seems GPS units really don’t like old cities with narrow streets lined by masonry buildings.
3 weeks agoNot unless you want to hop across the Appenines. We’re spending the next three weeks slow traveling north up to the Adriatic to Pescara before catching the train to Imperia.
3 weeks agoWelcome to Italy! We’re just across the country from you in Naples. We’re here for a couple of weeks without bikes, but I guess there’s no chance of a meetup. Looking forward to this journal!!
3 weeks agoYup, by the skin of our teeth. The previous post will be more interesting when I get back to it, but all’s well that ends well.
3 weeks agoYou made it!!! Yippee!
3 weeks agoGlad you made it. Have a great tour! Looking forward to following along as always.
3 weeks agoWell actually, there’s good news to report on that front that I’ve been holding off on. There’s been substantial improvement over the last five days - I’m walking more comfortably and with less pain, not gritting my teeth trying to get through the next half block. And my balance is better - between my knees and vision issues I’ve been pretty unsteady when walking, holding Rachael’s hand (admittedly a plus in all this) or a railing.
All along I’ve been holding out hope that some of this was related to the steroids, and am reminded that only a few months ago I was excited to be able to compete a ten mile walk. I think the swelling in my knees has gone down over the last week, so maybe those hopes are being realized.
Well, that was the plan until Shawn’s car broke down. This really worked out for the best all around, but I’m sure we’ll make it back sooner or later. I’ve been dreaming up grabbing back the Raven some spring or summer and taking a road trip, maybe back to Ithaca and up to Duluth. It seems like your Town could fit in there.
