Our worst nightmare, after the bikes being destroyed in transit, is not having the bikes/other luggage arrive at all. Hope yours gets to Australia sometime soon.

Thanks Susan, I might aim for Slovenia next year. We did have a lot of fun. Even though it was wet it could have been much worse and changing our route was a good call in hindsight.
Thanks for reading!

Thanks Steve. It’s 6am in Melbourne and I’m here without my bike and bag which is in Bangkok still! So I’m hoping the box and bike are still together comfortably. Thanks for following!

I really enjoyed following you blokes around and am sorry about all the bad weather conditions you encountered. Loved that you kept in good spirits through it all - at least in the telling! Hope you get a chance to return and cycle Slovenia sometime.

What a nightmare with the bike box! We used boxes for the first time this past trip and have vowed never again. The airlines managed to shred both boxes on each direction, and they ended up more tape than cardboard. In the past we have used travel cases, and plastic bags, and no solution seems to really protect the bikes, they are almost always damaged in some way. Our current solution is to try leaving the bikes in storage in Europe at our ending location, and begin the next trip from there. (We travel in Europe every year usually 3 months in, 3 months out). Hope your trip home is bearable. Let us know when you arrive how it went.

Lyle and I have also enjoyed you humour and story telling style. Thank you. Matthew summed it up well. We wait with bated breath to hear about the review response. 🙂

Thanks I’ve got one more blog to write which I’ll do when I get to the airport. It will include the response to my google review from Gianni the restaurant owner. I’m heading to the airport shortly.
Thanks for reading. It has been a lot of fun. See you soon.

Dennis, we have enjoyed your blogs and laughed with you along your epic journey. Your trip has included the full range of experiences, good company, moments of madness, serendipitous episodes, enthralling scenery, a range of culinary delights, plus the extremes of European behaviours and much in between. Although the weather played a significant role in your efforts to trek across the continent, it will be a an important factor in the embellishments you add to subsequent retellings of your adventures. For many, your blogs have been a marvellous distraction from the news about economic pressures and conflict in various parts of the world. May you have a pleasant and safe trip home. Thanks. Matthew and Cathie.
