Day 1 Lafayette to New Iberia

After a great kickoff party we drove back tobiur motel only to find we were moved once again. I had to sleep on a rollaway all night, but was so tired I slept well anyway.
Quite cool this morning but by mass start at 10 it was plent comfy and of course we peeled clothes during the ride. Most of todat consisted of winding around airports and prisons and large offshore driven businesses. There was a light wind in our faces all ride. I stopped for lunch at a locally famous bar and snarfed a large bowl of red beans. Free! Owner wouldn’t take my money. Go figure.
Our bags were all there early and Cal got mine and picked us a great spot inside the very sparsely occupied gym. Far cry from BAK where we fight for ever spot. Later we walked into the quaint old town and had a bloody Mary and Nelly and Cal had a Margarita. Then we dined at The Pelican on the Bayou. We’re currently under a huge canopy and Zydeco music and dancing is goin on. I am signing off now to join the fun😜
