Final Thoughts - Great Divide & Trans America Trails (Steamboat to Del Norte) - CycleBlaze

Final Thoughts

Logistics: From TX, we drove Paul’s motor home to South Fork, and parked it at a friends place. We rented a truck in South Fork, and drove to Steamboat with our bikes and gear. From there we dropped off the truck and began our ride back to South Fork.

Riders Met: Rhys from NYC, Joe from Almogordo, NM, six riders from Michigan and surrounding states, two riders from Missouri, a young rider from Colorado. These riders were GDMBR and Trans Am riders.

Would you ride more of the GDMBR? Marc, YES; Paul, NO.

Would you ride more of the Trans Am? Marc, YES; Paul, YES.

Lessons Learned: Take breaks every hour; snack more often; cook or eat breakfast every morning before riding; do not ride more than 8 days without taking a day off; follow your diet restrictions!

Rich FrasierLooks like you have unanimous agreement on where to ride next! I’m impressed with the ride you did - it didn’t look like easy riding at all. Nice pictures, too!

Marc BrooksTo Rich FrasierThanks so much. We both agree that towns and services (including showers) are good to have, especially at our ages (65 & 68). We don’t mind pitching tents at all. If a rider could travel and stay each night at a park as nice as Red Mountain RV Park (Kremmling), it would make bike travel really nice. Either Route is OK with me. Thanks again for your comments.
