Another beautiful morning.  No traffic this Easter morning and no wind at 8 a.m., but plenty of sunshine.

We were on our way to Dauphin Island where we would catch a ferry. Had to take a long, tall bridge to Dauphin Island.

The road curved around to the left. Steep climb on the bridge!

Francie GassI don't, but it had me puffing. Definitely over 10%, but not very long at least.

The ferry (the size of the Lummi Is. Ferry for you Bellingham folks) goes from Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan, crossing the entrance to Mobile Bay.  We had time for lunch and pelican watching.

We were surprised to see so many houses on this hurricane-buffeted beach.

We had smooth new asphalt and a bike path for the last 20 miles to Gulf Shores, but also a strong headwind.

We are at a new Hampton Inn about a mile from the beach and went to another great seafood restaurant tonight.  Dennis treated us to happy hour drinks in celebration of entering a new state, then we eat appetizers, entrees, and desserts...it will be hard to retrain ourselves when we stop riding!

Doug ColeThe fresh blacktop sure looked inviting. From MS to AL. Not much climbing there to the finish. Mostly overpasses. Whew!

Dennis always gets our bags to our rooms, before we arrive...a very nice touch.  Today, we found Easter candy in each of our bags...he takes good care of us in many ways!

Today's ride: 63 miles (101 km)
Total: 518 miles (834 km)
