Day 27 Navasota, TX to Cleveland, TX

Heart 0 Comment 0

Another day of rolling hills. We have ridden on the "Texas Hill Country Trail", the "Texas Independence Trail" and now the "Texas Forest Trail".  They are not trails, but a series of roads designated as "trail". The scenery changed dramatically from farmland to forested land - large pine trees.

We are all very tired.  We thought we would get stronger...which we have, but we all underestimated the toll of repeated days of cycling.  Also, today we had 8 mph wind in our faces and the roads were rough.  We got to our hotel at 3 p.m. today, so have had time to rest before dinner.

Today's ride: 72 miles (116 km)
Total: 1,125 miles (1,811 km)

Scott AndersonI don’t doubt you’re getting tired. You must be getting a real appreciation for how huge Texas is though. You’ve been there for 16 days now, and putting in huge miles. Hang in there!

Doug ColeI think I'd rather see a "committee" of vultures perched rather than a "kettle." The latter would mean they are circling overhead. Nice to see trees again. At least you got in early enough today for a nap perhaps? A month into it now!

Francie GassHa! Another term!! Vultures on the ground with carrion are called a "wake". We didn't know about a "kettle"! Thanks!
