Day 021 - Elizabeth City, NC to Virginia Beach, VA

It was another great day. I watched some large farm equipment in action, took a ferry ride, saw a couple of otters, several ducks, even more turtles, and took in an inning of a young girls' softball game. When you throw in clear skies, mild winds, a good lunch, and miles of country roads, it makes you wonder why more people don't travel by bike. What a great way to see the country!

The day started off riding along Elizabeth City's waterfront.

It looked like there was going to be an event later in the day.

Riding along NC34, I passed several large farms where planting was in full swing.

Taken along a different section of NC34. Although only nine miles in total length, it is a great low traffic road.

On the ferry between Currituck and Knott's Island. It was a nice day for all types of bikes.

We saw a few sailboats enjoying the day as well.

Laura and Deb were enjoying a day ride with their Indian Motorcycle Riding Group (thanks for explaining the difference between a Group and Club)

You can just make out an otter's head in the center of this photo. (Follow the "V" in the water.) A minute later I spotted another one swimming on its back, but couldn't get the camera out quick enough.

I passed several large wheat fields today. There were also corn, potato, and canola fields on today's menu.

I passed this game, which was down a side road, and decided to turn around and watch the game for a while. This was a 7- to 10-year-old girls rec league game.

Jennifer and Justin were watching their daughter, Peyton, play in today's game.
