Team A heads North

Our rendezvous point with Jeanna and Kerry was New Smyrna Beach. NSB seemed logical since it is due East of Jeanna and Kerry’s house, due North of Alain and Viktoriya’s house. Each team allocated 2 days to travel to the rendezvous. The flaw in our plan is that Florida is a lot longer North South than it is East West, so Alain and Viktoriya had 2 long days of riding to cover the 248 miles to NSB. On the other hand, the Atlantic coast of Florida is one of the flattest places on the planet. The only “hills” we would encounter were bridges and highway overpasses.

We have ridden along the coast many times, so we were not too tempted to stop and admire the scenery. Even when we spotted a pod of dolphins playing and feeding next to the NASA causeway we did not get off the bike to admire them although we might have stopped if there had been even a bit a shade. We did make quite a few stops along the way to take on water and Gatorade to deal with the Florida heat and humidity.

Today's ride: 57 miles (92 km)
Total: 174 miles (280 km)
