Chao Samran to Petchaburi: Short ride with some nice birding along the way

With a short ride ahead of us today, we took our time getting going this morning. At about nine o'clock we finally got on the bicycles and cycled the short stretch to the beach area to buy some breakfast before heading up the 3177 to Petchaburi. It was as busy as it was a year and a half ago but we spent a lot of time birding the paddies and furrows along the way. We picked up two lifers in Streaked Weaver and Asian Golden Weaver. Struggle as we might, we didn't manage to get any decent photos of either species.

Our digs for the next two nights is the Sweet Dreams Guesthouse on the northern side of Petchaburi. This puts us in a nice location to bird the rice paddies north of the city tomorrow morning. The guesthouse is really good and great value for money. Judging by photographs on the wall, it has been popular with cycle tourists in its short existence (it opened soon after we were here last year).

Today's ride: 27 km (17 miles)
Total: 5,091 km (3,162 miles)
