A taxi to the airport cost us 139K VND. The boxed bikes weighed about 19Kg each. Our panniers, apart from one and my rackpac, were put into a large blue zip-up shopping bag of the type that you can get at most Asian markets. This weighed 18Kg after wrapping in plastic at the airport. This meant we were almost 5Kgs below our limit (30Kg each in cattle-class on Cathay-Pacific) so we could have lightened our carry-on luggage a bit (the pedals in my handlebar bag felt like lead).

We had an eight hout layover in Hong Kong so we took the very expensive fast train into Kowloon where we enjoyed a very expensive glass of wine and a plate of nachos - about 80 US$ for a short excursion to Hong Kong !

The rest of the flight was comfortable and we both had a good sleep although the east-west jet-lag is kicking in as I type this.

Of course we are making plans for the next trip - if all goes well we hope to be in Patagonia before the end of January next year.
