Page One:  WHAT? - A Tour On The Edge - CycleBlaze

Page One:  WHAT?

My standards have gotten pretty low when it comes to the length, distance, difficulty, variety, international adventure, and seriousness of purpose for my bike trips.  My journals look pretty insignificant compared to the REAL bike trips seen regularly here on Cycleblaze.  It would be nice to report that's all going to change this time, but that would be a lie.  Truthfully, this will be one of my shortest mini-tours ever . . .

[I intentionally put the three dots at the end of the previous paragraph to give everybody the opportunity to opt out of reading about this minuscule mini-tour, and it seems to have worked.  Millions of readers quickly clicked onto better journals.  That's okay.  I sense a few dudes and chicks are still here.  Thank you.]

The tour may be mini, but the journal will be MAXI.  According to the plan I have in my head, this three-day mini-tour will produce three WEEKS worth of uncensored narrative prose, unfathomable poetry, cycling-related essays, egomaniacal bragging, and a multi-media extravaganza of videos, performance art, pen & crayon illustrations, and vocal music talent.

Aside from me, who else would dare to reduce day-to-day posts into hour-to-hour posts?  Nobody, that's who.  That gives me hope that this experiment will finally earn me the Pulitzer Prize for Bike Touring Journalism that I've been coveting for several years.

Bruce LellmanMini is always Maxi for me. The sad truth is, I still haven't finished reading your last journal! I had better do that before I not only am behind in a journal but a journal behind! And to be behind a Mini-Maxi is not something anyone should do, I suspect. Can't wait for your three-hour, I mean day, tour.

Mark M.It's a well trodden path. Wring out every last ounce of storytelling, a bit like what they did to the Hobbit when they made it into a film. And let's not get started on those Marvel franchise things.

I'm already sure your journal will be markedly better.

Plus, the illustration looks awesome. We need one of those for every summit and viewpoint, please, if you're doing requests?

Gregory GarceauTo Bruce LellmanIt's okay that you haven't finished my last journal. Like a gourmet meal, it was meant to be savored over a long period of time.

Hooooo boy, now that I'm done laughing at my last sentence, I have a more appropriate simile: Like a holiday fruit cake, that journal needs to be choked down a little at a time.

P.S. Nice Gilligan's Island related slip up.

Gregory GarceauTo Mark M.Fortunately, I've never seen (or wanted to see) a Marvel movie. I didn't see The Hobbit either. Now you got me thinking I should see them--you know--to check out my competition for over-developed story telling. Maybe I could even pick up a few tips.

Thanks for the compliment on my artwork. Indeed, there will be more. My Crayons are packed and ready to go.

Gregory GarceauTo Bill ShaneyfeltIn my case, the road WILL be taken. (And that should make all the difference.)

Gregory GarceauTo Mike AylingYeah, I kind of let the wine reviews go by the wayside. The time might be right for a revival of that tradition--IF I can find a local wine where I'm going.
