Casar de Cáceres - The twelfth step ... Three months in Spain - CycleBlaze

April 21, 2022

Casar de Cáceres

A cold start to the day but the wind was far less of a problem than yesterday so we had a lovely ride on the N-630.  Spain really has some good roads on which to cycle.  The N-630 has very little traffic and is mostly in excellent condition with a good shoulder most of the time.

A pretty little bridge on the walkers' path.

We passed two identical fort-like buildings that had been converted in fancy hotels, a few hundred meters apart with one on a little knoll and the other in a hollow below it.

Cyclists lanes through the traffic circles (roundabouts) in the middle of nowhere.

Open roads and lots of signs to remind the motorists to be aware of cyclists.

We had two stops today.  One for a bocadillo with ham and orange juice for a second breakfast at a cafe along the way and another in Cáceres, about twelve kilometers before Casar de Cáceres, to buy some groceries.

Cultivated fields seem to have come to an end and cattle, sheep and goats are the main sign of agriculture.

We are staying at the munipal albergue for pilgrims.  Very hostel-ish and it is pretty full but it has a good kitchen plus a washing machine and tumble dryer.  For six Euros a head one couldn't ask for more.
