Day 2 - Readfield to Bethel

Excellent weather and good road conditions continue.  Ronn joined me for the first 20 miles, taking back roads out of Readfield to Rte 219.  The mostly good shoulders and light traffic made for good riding.

Ronn and Bob at the start of the day.

Many classic sights and Maine scenery in among the hills along Rte 219.

An important landmark to guide travel home from the western mountains. “Turn right at BIM’s corner.”

Excellent spring water source heading north on Rte 26 from West Paris.

Ret 26 has gentle grades and wider shoulders, but heavier traffic.

View of the Presidential Range in New Hampshire from Rte 26.

I arrived in Bethel around 2 pm and checked in at the classic Sudbury Inn.    Cheryl drove over after school to have dinner with me and friends John and Cheryl from NH.  John will ride with me for a way on Thursday morning.  It was a great day, and thanks to everyone who joined me!
