Day 24: Our luck ran out!
The weather has been favorable during this big adventure, but our luck ran out on what was supposed to be our last day.
We’ve been watching this storm for a few days and wondering if we could out run it or will it catch us. We’ve been caught.
We were able to cancel our hotel in Nice with no penalty and we are spending an extra day in Castellane.
It’s been raining all morning - a light gentle soaking rain. Here’s hoping tomorrow is better so we can finish our ride to Nice. The afternoon had some quick showers, but offered enough break for us to get out and walk around.
Apparently there is a Retrospective Historique de Castellane - a car rally consisting of cars older than the end of 1985. There are Fords, Renaults, Toyota Celicas, Mercedes, Simcas, Porsches, Willy’s Jeep, and many more. We saw number 99 applied to a car that was checking in … so there are over a 100 cars involved.
After meandering through the cars and walking along the river, we went in search of a dinner place. I’m sure we circled through all the restaurants three times before we settled on Le Temps de …
This may have well been our best dinner of the whole trip. So, if you find yourself in Castellane, we highly recommend this restaurant! And Maura, I had fish once again!! ☺️
Weather forecast for tomorrow keeps improving! Fingers crossed and we will make all decisions in the morning.
