The evening before I started the tour, I finally got around to doing a "shakedown ride." This was the first time I packed everything and rode the bike with all of the panniers.

In keeping with the half-assed nature of my planning for this trip, the shakedown ride consisted of cycling the quarter mile of my mother-in-law's gravel driveway.

The shakedown ride revealed no problems.
