Two Rest days: Sorgau and Steinbach

"On rest days, we don't ride our bikes" we both say. Tine and Jorg's house is full with people getting ready to mountain bike to Steinbach. They all look like serious mountain bikers. Everyone will meet up at an old factory in Steinbach where this evening there is a Saxsonian Bohemian Music Festival, a Czech tradition.

The cyclists take off at different times in groups, some taking a shorter route, others a longer route. We go in the truck that will carry some of the gear needed tonight for the camping at the festival. Volkar, a friend of Tine's father Bernard, drives the truck and becomes our tour guide through the countryside. We stop at a high point with an awesome 360 degree view.

The music festival is held in part of an old DDR (Deutshe Democratic Republic) factory. We experience Czech food and Pivo (Czech beer) for the first time. There is one universal truth found everywhere in the world...Bikes and Beer go together.

A wood carving in Tine and Jorg's house that actually smokes.

Cold and windy day on a high point in the Erzgebirge. We can see a long way in all directions, a cold northern wind blows in ominous clouds.

Now that's a bandsaw. We're not sure what was made here, but tonight there is music, Czech food and pivo, Czech beer.

Na sdrovi! That Czech beer is tasty but so smooth it has no aftertaste. It is served in half liter mugs.
