Day 127: Rest Day in Portland

Meeting up with Frosene and John

We have a lazy start to the day. Doug left early to take his dog, Slicker for a walk. He left out a spread of food for breakfast. Rachel gets the laundry done. Patrick maps out the last 4 days of our cycling to Beverly.

We’ve arranged to meet Frosene and John at Becky’s restaurant just across the street for lunch. They cycled Portland to Portland on the Parks to Prairie Route, then part of the Northern Tier and the Erie Canal. We have been following each other on Facebook and our journal so it’s fun to finally meet up. Doug joins us and we have a nice get together and lunch. Excellent clam chowdah! We walk around downtown a bit and have a beer at Gritty McDuff’s, claiming to be the “first microbrew pub” in Portland.

In the evening Doug joins us for a beer and dinner at $3 Dewey’s. Patrick watches the Yankees and Red Sox game with Doug. Tomorrow, we on the road to Boston and cycling with Frosene and John.
