8/26/19 - Standish-Hickey SP to Willits

Today we rode on 101 from the Standish-Hickey campground towards Willits. The weather turned quite warm (92 degrees!) following a cool night. Stopped for lunch in Laytonville and cooled off in the air conditioned coffee shop. First time in A/C in weeks.

The last stretch into Willits was narrow, winding, with very fast traffic and not much room for bicycles, so our WS host came and picked us up for the final seven miles. What a relief that was.

At their house we enjoyed a wonderful dinner with outside seating, good conversation, and plenty of grandkid energy!

Back yard at WS host Alan and Debbie. We are their first guests and their home is my 15th WS stop on this tour.

Delicious plum cake using fruit from their back yard (tree at left side in photo above). I ate more slices than everyone else.
