Rode my final long climb over a pass today. As my friend Jerry says, “Dave, you got this”
Jerry, “I got this!”

The road up and over McKenzie pass is narrow and winding so they enforce a total vehicle length which includes anything being towed

They even have a method to measure your vehicle and warn you if it is too long

Near the summit, the Pacific Crest Trail crosses. I met two PCT hikers in Sisters who were purchasing food

Unfortunately at the top there was a lot of haziness due to smoke and I did not get any views

This guy had it tough

The long downhill wound its way through a gorgeous towering fir forest

Andrea BrownI'm going to annoyingly point out that the pines are on the east side of this pass but you are now in Doug fir country. And yes, it's a downhill paradise.

David HendersonTo Andrea BrownMy botany skills are poor so thanks for you comments. As I have ridden cross country a few spots stand out. The eastern side of McKenzie pass through the forest is one of the most beautiful

Met Mack part way down. He did the Transamerica in 2015. Still riding after having both knees and both hips replaced

George HallInteresting - I met a cyclist named Mack on the Blue Ridge in Virginia in 2015 while riding the Transam - that was 9 years ago, but - what are the odds it could be him?

David HendersonTo George HallI would guess it is the same guy, how many Mack’s have ridden the Transamerica?
