MR. NICE GUY AND FRIENDS MEET THE DINOSAURS: A Children's Tale

This is a story about a man named Mr. Nice Guy,
Some naughty kids might think the story is a big, fat lie,
But good children will believe every word of it is true,
Because there are witnesses named Nicycle and G-2.

One nice day Mr. Nice Guy and his two good friends,
Were exploring streets, intersections and dead ends,
When something quite extraordinary caught his eye,
It was something none of them could identify.

"Say! What is that?" He asked his crew. / "What's that creature within my view?"

"Do you mean that big animal up there? / I can see it's not a cow, deer or bear."

Mr. Nice Guy and G-2 hopped on their bicycle,
The bicycle appropriately named "Nicycle."
The threesome knew it would be an incredible thrill,
To ride up there and see that creature on the hill.

Nicycle didn't utter a peep / Even though the road was very steep.

He was glad not to be toting his bags / While climbing up those zigs and those zags.

Up those switchbacks Nicycle went,
It was easy without gear and tent,
Heroically climbing without any fears,
The bike shouted out , "To heck with panniers.
That load reduces my lifespan by years,
And I don't like the wear and tear on my gears."

The trio climbed to the top and they could see now / It was a brontosaurus, not a deer or a cow.

"What a thrill to see a dinosaur," they all agreed,
"Especially the world's largest reptile breed."
So they continued upward only slightly afraid,
"Please don't let brontos eat men, cartoons, and bikes," they prayed.

"Oh, sonofabitch, he's looking down on us," cried G-2. / Mr. Nice Guy said, "If he steps on us, we're through."

Don't worry kids, they made friends with Brontosaurus Billy,
Pretty soon their fear of him seemed pretty darn silly,
But just when they all felt like their safety was assured,
Something terrible, something too awful for words, occurred.

While Mr. Nice Guy took a picture of Rapid City from the hill, / A Tyrannosaurus Rex photo-bombed him--with intent to kill.

Thank goodness, along came a triceratops named Ted / Who prevented T-rex from biting off G-2's head.

Then Steve the Stegosaurus came along, / He and Ted the Triceratops were very strong.

Steve and Ted's efforts drove T-rex away,
He'll have to maim and kill another day,
Take this lesson in kids, take it in fully,
That it's never a good thing to be a bully.

Mr. Nice Guy's team and all of the dinos became friends,
And Timmy the Tyrannosaurus even came back to make amends,
So a bloodless happy ending was appreciated by all,
And they went their own ways, promising to give each other a call.

Oh, G-2, we appreciate your curiosity, / But please don't arouse another dinosaur's animosity.
