Lyle McLeodTo Scott AndersonIt was kind of fun ... as long as we weren’t pedalling into it.
The yr.no forecasts have been amazingly accurate, the wind has died right off and is coming from the west. Tomorrow morning is a light breeze (biker scale) from the east so we are bugging out for Santa Maria di Leuca bright and early

No, not really.

This pic just about says it all. Managed to squeeze this one in when it wasn't raining. Just howling.

Gallipoli old town is a pretty small place, and we pretty much saw it all, at least anything that was open, by 11. We took off across the causeway to see what there was in the 'new town' when the heavens opened up on us. Turns out there was not much there either on a wet and stormy Tuesday!

We did manage to find one open tratorria for lunch and then hunkered down in the B&B for domestic chores.... catching up on emails, some final trip and route planning (that may well change) and writing up this journal. By the time all that was done, the rain had stopped, some other businesses had started to open up and a little bit of life started to creep back into the town.

We had a great dinner, very very fresh seafood, at Il Brigante restaurant (and we'll probably be back there tomorrow) and are looking forward to a rewind tomorrow! It was good to have a forced relaxation day, but both K and I are getting itchy to get moving again. However, the weather forecast, which has been very accurate, suggests we would be insane to do that tomorrow. Fingers crossed for Thursday.

Song of the Day, No Place to Go by Howlin Wolf. That just says it all.

Yikes! Yesterday’s forecast was optimistic! This is what we woke up to😮

Not only was the wind howling and the rain lashing ... these signs say it all ... most of Gallipoli is closed!

The nice quiet north side of the island today ... this is still pretty calm!

... moving over to the south side and the full brunt of the wind ...

... a lot of debris around the streets ... some of it pretty big

... This is where the group of black cats were hanging out yesterday ... I'm sure this is not the first time they've seen this

Pretty high end P-150 ...very nice woodwork and paint job. Once you were inside the narrow streets, the ones that ran east-west, it was ok to walk around

.... sweeet ... and this unit has over 45 k on the odometer ... most of of probably within the walls of the old town

and blessed are the cyclists who aren't daft enough to try to ride in this weather!
