Lyle McLeod commented on Day 28 - Bressanone to Trento

Hi Dave,
Thank you for the very kind comments. So sorry to hear about your health setbacks. Both Kirsten and I hope you're able to get on the trails again. The rides around the Italian Lakes and the Dolomites would equal the CARR, we hope you get the opportunity to ride them and compare for yourself.
Regards, Kirsten & Lyle

once again your blog inspires me. It's been almost 4 years since my ride eon EV6 and then south on the CAAR. Prostrate Cancer, the pandemic and recently congestive heart failure have taken the wind out of my sails but who knows maybe summer 2023 may have another long ride for me.

Mike, Very familiar with the Beaufort scale. Used to do some sailing in Scotland in a former life!
What's great fun to a sailor can be hell on earth for a cyclist!

Fixie - The British purists hate this North American word.
You either have a fixed wheel or ride fixed.
I reconditioned my fixed wheel bike in the shed during our lockdown and am riding it quite a bit on the flat around my home.
Interestingly it is easier to ride up hill fixed than on a freewheel of the same gear!

Categories of recreational ebike riders:

The sick;
The lame;
And the lazy!

I turned 78 this year and am trying to hold out until I am 80!

Is it as exciting to get a notification when you are at home?

That would fall into the ‘old dogs, new tricks’ bucket.

I think I successfully ‘photoshopped’ a pic about 18 years ago. Took me almost a full day!

I was brought up Catholic but, to my parents' dismay, it didn't stick. I was wondering if this was a specified punishment for something so did a Google search. Yeah, it's gruesome!

You’re obviously more up on Catholic myths and references than I am. Either way, it’s pretty gruesome.

I rather hope they are all depictions of the martyrdom of Saint Agatha and this wasn't "the usual punishment" for some common transgression.

Not quite all the locals--these might be fishermen not fishing, but I wouldn't be surprised if every one of them had a wife at home cooking as they watch the waves.
