Southern Rhodes - Cycling Greece, Part 2 - CycleBlaze

Southern Rhodes

On our layover day we cycled a long counterclockwise loop of the south half of the island - at 64 miles this was the longest ride of our tour so far. After following the coast to Lardos, we turned inland and of course uphill to Laerma. Here, we changed our original plan of cycling north to Aghios Isidoros after soon discovering that the road was unpaved and a bit much for our road bikes. Backtracking to Laerma, we instead went southwest through Profilia, Istria before finally reaching the west coast at Appolakia. For the most part roads were empty and the country wild and scenic.

Our route back, following the main route through Kattavia, was fairly uneventful - with generally flat roads and not that much to slow down for we made fairly quick time back to our room with plenty of time for a bit more exploration before the dinner hour.
