Oberweser to Holtzminden: Along the Weser River

Day two of our ride up the Weser did not disappoint. Once again, we were blown away by the scenery and the unspoiled beauty of the route.
The riding is superb, well signed and each bend in the river presents us with more natural beauty and interesting towns.
It is an ironic conflict - we want to travel far to see more in a day, but we also don't want to rush through this special area.

There we are, camped by the Weser.

It is hard to capture this on film, but the street is lined with interesting half timberrd houses.

Oberweser is full of very old half timbered houses with writing above the doorways. We will try to translate these on google to figure out what it means

This couple came up to talk to us in the bakery at the Rewe in Bad Karlhausen - they had seen us riding yesterday and wanted to find out about our bike and journey. She has a tea shop in Minden - perhaps we'll stop by on our way up the Weser.

We met this couple in Bad Karlshausen - they had bought their tandem from the States and had it shipped over - they had wanted a tandem with shocks, plus they had added a motor. Perhaps in our future?1

This descent required our disc brakes as well as our extra drag brake.

Interesting brick buildings here - beside old half timbered houses.

At first we were interested in this rider because he rode a recumbent trike, and then we saw his dog seated behind him...as well as a dog in the carrier behind him.

It's Saturday and it appears it's time to party on the river. We saw a number of party rafts floating down the river

We have seen this couple riding along the trail for a few days - they are riding a hand built Berlin Steel tandem.
