Day 4 - to Dillingen

Now in the land of beer-Bavaria

We left Ulm this morning in cool conditions with some high level fog that made it quite chilly.  We travelled right beside the Danube on a trail that would have been well under water when Ron and Carol were here a few years back (after the 500 year flood).  This trip for them is almost brand new because they are riding trails the would have been submerged the last time.  Today’s 58kms were almost flat along the river and through farmers fields.  We stopped in Günzburg for coffee and for a German classic plum cake in the sunshine.   Before we left we decided to hit the bike shop for air which was a good thing because I had another flat.  After 1.5hours of shopping and repairing tires we hit the road to Dillingen where we stopped for the night in a funky hotel called Sleepy Sleepy.  We had a dirty beer or two before cleaning up for a lovely Italian dinner.

A lesson  relearned is to start a tour with new tires to minimize your risk of flats.  Today I not only bought a new tube but also a tire to hopefully prevent more flats.

The Ulm Rathaus. This translate to city hall which I think is very appropriate since it is full of politicians (i.e. rats).

The amazing bike shop where we dropped so €. They had as many e-bikes as regular bikes and I swear at least 50% of the bikes we see being ridden by all ages are e-bikes.
