Something a little different

Everyone agreed that we had had enough of back gravel roads with big climbs so our guide changed the plan to an out and back route to a national park, a hike in the park and a picnic lunch. The ride was less than 20km and we would have had to sit around a long time in wet cycle shorts so we went to the park on the bus and did the hike. The hike was 2.5km in a tropical rain forest so it was hot and very humid. It was like hiking in a stream room so by the end I was soaked with sweat again. I have enjoyed Costa Rica but I will happy to stop being so sweaty. This morning before breakfast we also saw some white faced monkeys.

Still more small streams to cross, so wet feet again.

Some beautiful mushrooms. They are cupped shaped and capture the rain water, non-edible.

Some pelicans. We were watching they dive for food.

This pant and flower is in the ginger clan but native to Nicaragua not Costa Rica.

We warned not to touch the trees because many have spikes like this one called Ceiba Pentandra.

Tim is launching himself over the stream to avoid wet feet.

This making ficus has choked out the original tree so that only it remains.

This is some of the gang at the first of 3 pools of the Montezuma waterfall. We chose to escape to AC rather than climb in the heat.

Some opted to go for a swim in the pool.

It was a real challenge to get to the waterfall pool and that was only the first one.
