D83: 天明

I wasn't expecting my period to start today but, if my body had to rudely decide on being a few days earlier than it ought to be and with heavier flow than I'd be comfortable biking, at least it also did it when I was chipping away at the bulk of a 120 page document compromised of sentences like this:

"At the meeting of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau held on July 30, 2020, the CPC—in accordance with the changing situation—decided that the 5th Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee would be held in October, with its main agenda to put forward the CPC Central Committee’s proposals for formulating the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2025."

Not that I've ever been the kind of woman who gets extra bitchy before or during my period¹ but untangling punctuation and capitalization on something like that² is just that much more refreshing when you are being a grump than it is when you might want to be up and out of bed and doing something.

¹ This is because my bitchiness quotient remains stable throughout the month

² The translators³ used by the FLP are excellent and, other than cases where a word in Chinese has a different meaning than the closest word in English⁴, I very rarely have to cross check the source against what I've been given. Really, the only problem with their work is the content.

³ I was rather insulted when my editor first told me they didn't really like me as a translator but they mollified me with wanting me as a proofreader instead.

⁴ For example, a phrase from a speech Xi Jinping gave in Mongolia about five years back that was uniformly translated as "hitch hike" and which not only didn't have those implications in the Chinese, was actually quite clever and professionally phrased in source.
