I replaced another spoke before rejoining the Erie Canal Trail.

I stumbled upon the Oriskany Battlefield. A revolutionary militia was matching single file through thick woods when it was ambushed by loyalists. Nearly all of the participants were Americans, ether European Americans or Native Americans. So the experts describe this part of the revolution as a civil war. This battle was one of the most violent of the revolution and very few militia survived.
